Gordon is currently working as Head of Operations for Deaf Action, a voluntary sector organisation that specialises in deafness, overseeing services for deaf and hard of hearing people with a turnover of £2 million.  Prior to his current employment, he worked at the Scottish Government, as BSL Policy Officer overlooking the BSL National Plan 2017-2023 under the BSL (Scotland) Act 2015.  Gordon was the Community Manager at Deaf Direct, working in Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Oxfordshire.  Gordon, a former Board of Director of UK Deaf Sport, the national governing body for Deaf Sport in the UK, was responsible for organising the DeaflympicsGB team attending the 2009 and 2013 Summer Deaflympics.  He was also Director of the British Deaf History Society for 12 years; and he has sat on the Bureau for Deaf History International, working on the bids for the UK to host a DHI Conference.  He is one of three Executive Committee members for the DHI Conference in Edinburgh, mainly to overlook the executive decisions and finances.  Gordon is also involved with football at both the local, regional and national level for over 20 years starting with Black Country Deaf Football Club at the age of 17, becoming its Chairman, become Treasurer for Midland Deaf Sports Association, oversaw the restructure of Deaf Football in the UK and currently plays for Edinburgh Deaf Futsal Club.
